21st Century Company of Environmental Creation
Toshiba Carrier Corporation is aiming to be the Advanced Eco Evolution “Made of and for Eco” always considering
how we should act as “a good global citizen.” To achieve this goal, the most important thing is to fulfill our corporate
social responsibility (CSR).
Accordingly, through various daily operations, we are attempting to ensure the following
three management principles are deep-rooted in our group’s employees:
1) contribution to human society and the
global environment,
2) business development faithful to our customers, and 3) healthy and transparent management.
As a global citizen, in order to realize a “sustainable society,” we think it significant to be committed to human society
and the global environment.
Our society has been enjoying many useful benefits from scientific development while at the same time, various imbalances
have arisen on the Earth, with consequently increasing environmental burdens such as global warming, waste,
and chemical release. In the next year 2010, “the 10th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity
(COP10)” with “biodiversity” as its theme, the key event for discussing the “sustainable society,” will take place
in Japan. To mark the 10th holding of the Conference, the United Nations has declared 2010 the International Year of
Biodiversity. Before that year, in this report, Toshiba Carrier Corporation has picked up “biodiversity” as the main
topic.
The report features an intracompany round-table talk, as well as introducing the Tsuyama Operation Center (in
Okayama Prefecture), more than half the area of which is green
like a factory park overflowing with nature. The Operation Center,
as the production headquarters of large air-conditioning equipment
for business use, maintains and controls the coexistence of
“nature” and “manufacturing” by design.
Toshiba Carrier Corporation believes that the ideal Advanced Eco
Evolution “Made of and for Eco” should reduce environmental
burdens by contributing to society, and also provide goods and
services that are valuable to customers. This year, we are promoting
environmental activities under the banner of “Environmental
Ideas in Full Bloom!,” as if the seeds of our environmental activities
sprouted and bloomed. With all the group’s employees
working together as a team, we will continue our efforts to attain
higher goals, reflecting on harmony between business activities
and the environment at all levels, and receiving cooperation from
a wide range of people including business contacts related to
procurement of our goods and services.
